Below is a list of professional organizations with which AWSS is affiliated.
ASEEES – AWSS is affiliated primarily with The Association for Slavic, East European, & Eurasian Studies, the main professional organization in our field, which hosts the annual convention in November/December, and where AWSS conducts its business meetings, holds its annual awards reception, and sponsors panels.
Committee on the Status of Women – This committee works on issues related to women professionals in our field. The AWSS president is an ex officio member.
AATSEEL – AWSS affiliates with Association of Teachers of Slavic and East European Languages, which “exists to advance the study and promote the teaching of Slavic and East European languages, literatures, and cultures on all educational levels.” Its annual conference is now separated from MLA and is held in February with many new features. AWSS presents a conference stream.
Q*ASEEES – Society for the Promotion of LGBTQ in Slavic, East European, & Eurasian Studies, “a voice for LGBTQ studies in Central & Eastern Europe and the Former Soviet Union” and professional mentoring for early-career scholars.
SCSS – The SCSS promotes scholarship, education, and in all other ways to advance scholarly interest in Russian, Soviet, and East European studies in the Southern region of the United States.
