AWSS fosters regular networking and community through our website, listserv, and Facebook presence. In addition, we host an annual reception at the ASEEES meeting in November and organize a biennial AWSS conference. In 2018 we are collaborating with the Russian, East European, and Eurasian Center at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign to organize a Workshop on Gender and Women in Russia’s Great War and Revolution, 1914-1922.

We regularly sponsor panels at both the ASEEES and AATSEEL conferences.

The AWSS community takes its strength from its members, who work in a wide range of disciplines all over the world. The Board of Directors and officers serve as the leadership for AWSS, managing the various functions of our organization. Elections to Board positions occur annually in December for the following year; Board members serve for two years and may be re-elected. Officers serve two-year terms; those elected as Vice-President/President Elect serve two years in that role, two years as President, and two years as Past President.
